The Department of National Defence (DND) requires an independent third party to conduct a comprehensive review of the Office of the DND/Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) Ombudsman. The objective of this independent review is to examine the governance structure and authorities of the Office of the Ombudsman and benchmark the DND/CAF with the experience and practices of ombudsman functions from within the Government of Canada, other levels of government, and other similar democracies, including similar functions in allies’ militaries.
