The Northern Lighthouse Board has 208 lighthouses protecting the coastline of Scotland, the Northern Isles, The Western Isles and the Isle of Man as well as an office in Edinburgh, and bases in Oban, Inverness, Lerwick and Kirkwall. The lighthouse stations are infrequently visited, with some being annual or biennial maintenance visits of varying lengths as detailed in the requirements document.
